Bundaberg Region
'A dip into my family album reminds me that my strong connections to almost all parts of the region go back as long as I can remember. As Mayor, I believe that connection will give me a special understanding of the people, the community organisations and the businesses in Bundaberg Region.' ~ Lorraine Pyefinch
What is Bundaberg Regional Council?
Leadership that works for the Bundaberg Region...
You may still have the same address but soon you will be living in a brand new local government region. 2007 brought big changes in Queensland local government.
It also brought lots of other politics to distract your attention, so it's worth repeating the basic facts on the new Bundaberg Regional Council. In March 2007, the Queensland State Government announced that the number of councils would be reduced from 157 to 73.
In the Bundaberg region four council areas have been amalgamated ~ Burnett, Isis and Kolan Shire Councils plus Bundaberg City Council ~ and those councils will be replaced by a new body to be called Bundaberg Regional Council with ten councillors and a mayor, to be elected in March 2008.
